Lose Weight

Sharp Edge — 6-Week Low-Volume Block

Six weeks, four sessions, forty-five minutes hard-capped. Six exercises each, one to two working sets, compounds held at one to two reps in reserve and true failure reserved for the last movement of the session. When reps fall, the coach cuts the hard finishing work before it ever cuts your load. Dumbbells and a bench.

01Overview

About this program

A short, deliberately small block for the end of a long diet: four upper / lower sessions a week, six movements each, one working set per movement to start and never more than two. The design is built around a forty-five-minute ceiling, which is what dictates the paired non-competing sets — not a claim that less work is magic. It is for lifters who can already call one rep in reserve honestly, and for anyone whose real constraint is the clock. The choice rule against its shelf-mate: take Heavy First if you want to keep a barbell and a strength number, take Sharp Edge if the constraint is time and dumbbells. Skip this if you are new to structured training, if you are eating to gain, or if you want a volume block — Hold the Muscle covers three days at maintenance volume instead. Squatly prescribes no nutrition. Volume sits at the low end of the maintenance band our Volume Management framework describes, because our Fatigue & Recovery framework treats recovery, not work, as the limiting resource in a deficit, and our Body Recomposition framework is why effort per set is the protected variable when total work has to fall. Selection follows our Exercise Selection framework's stretch-position bias, and its dumbbell-and-machine bias exists so the one set you are allowed to finish hard is safe to finish without a spotter. Expect week 1 to calibrate what one rep in reserve actually is, weeks 2-3 to add a second working set — first on the lower body, then the upper — weeks 4-5 to unlock a rest-pause back-off on the final movement only, and week 6 to unload for three sessions before a single re-test against your week-1 loads.

    Weeks 1–1

    Phase 1 · Standard

    Find the Edge

One week to learn what a genuinely hard set feels like at this volume, and to write down the loads the rest of the block is measured against.

    Phase 2 · Accumulation

    Add the Set

Two weeks where the second working set arrives — lower body first, upper body a week later. The dumbbells do not get heavier.

    Phase 3 · Intensification

    Extend the Set

Two weeks where the last movement of each session earns a rest-pause back-off, and the compounds finally get permission to go up.

    Weeks 6–6

    Phase 4 · Deload

    Unload and Re-Test

Three light sessions to shed the fatigue the block accumulated, then one session that puts your week-1 loads back on the bar and reads the answer.

06FAQ

Common questions

The facts most people check before they commit a block to it.

01How long is the Sharp Edge — 6-Week Low-Volume Block program?

Sharp Edge — 6-Week Low-Volume Block runs 6 weeks at 4 days a week, structured into 4 phases so the load builds and resets on schedule. In Squatly, the coach tunes it to you, so the plan keeps moving with your training.

02Who is Sharp Edge — 6-Week Low-Volume Block for?

Six weeks, four sessions, forty-five minutes hard-capped. It sits in the Lose Weight category, and the coach reads your training to tell you whether it's the right fit before you commit a block to it.

03How does Sharp Edge — 6-Week Low-Volume Block progress over the weeks?

It opens with find the Edge and finishes with unload and Re-Test. Each phase has a job — accumulate work, push intensity, or back off to absorb it — and the coach moves your load when your logged sets earn it, not on a fixed schedule.

04Does the coach adjust Sharp Edge — 6-Week Low-Volume Block to me?

Yes. The program is the starting structure; the coach reads your e1RM trend, your weekly volume, and your effort on each lift, then tells you when to push — when a load is getting easier, it's time to add weight. It shows you the trend lines behind every call, and you accept, edit, or reject it. With every workout, the plan gets more yours.

Tuned to you, every workout

Keep moving forward.

The program sets the structure. Your coach drives it forward — reading your numbers and pushing the weight up as you get stronger, so the plan stays yours and you keep progressing.
